Poem 5/20

I remember the darkened home as we entered,
Audrey, Cookie Monster, and a butterfly.
That night felt like re-telling college—
times we’d all had and regretted.

I remember you looking at me, up, then down,
and I thought you seemed young.
Your idealism,  your goodness, smacked naive,

But your confident eyes made me smile
and want to dance.
